Pressed Flower Preparation

How it works

All you need to know, step by step

01

Do I need to reserve my bouquet preservation?

A reservation is recommended. While we would love to always accept all flowers, we do have capacity limits. To avoid disappointment, we encourage a reservation. This is especially true during the busy summer/fall wedding season. We will do our best to accommodate last minute requests, in particular memorial flowers.

02

Do I need to pay a deposit when I make a reservation?

A 50% deposit based on your order is required to hold your place.  Please see our pricing page for frame sizes and their costs.

03

When do I bring my flowers to you?

One or two days after your event is best. The fresher the flowers the better the results.

04

How do I care for my flowers before I get them to you?

After your event, keep them in water!

Hydrated flowers press better than wilting flowers. Do not wet the flower heads themselves, only put the stems in water. If your event is in winter, don’t let them freeze. Keep them covered while outdoors and en-route to The Flower Press. Use a light covering that won’t crush the flowers, plastic or paper bags are ideal.

Pressed Flowers

05

Can all flowers be pressed?

Some flowers press better than others, however the more difficult flowers are disassembled when they go into the press and then reassembled when they come out. Occasionally there are stems that we just can’t press (some Chrysanthemum varieties, for example) but we can usually use parts of them in your design.

06

Will my flowers change after they are pressed?

Most flowers change colours during preservation and the shapes will change due to being “squished” in the press. Usually the colour changes are lovely, but there are exceptions. For those exceptions, we have special colouring techniques to bring your flowers back to life and hide any blemishes that show up. Colour enhancement/correction is discussed during your consultation.

07

Do you press all the flowers in my bouquet?

The number of flowers pressed is determined by the frame size (or sizes) that you choose. We select the best blooms based on their condition, how well they press and for variety.

08

How long does it take to preserve my flowers?

Your flowers will be in the press 6-8 weeks. Flower pressing is a slow process, but patience yields delightful results.

09

When do I choose my framing and collage style?

After your flowers come out of the press, they are stored until we get to your place in our queue.  When that time comes, we contact you to schedule an appointment for a consultation to design your custom piece and choose your frame colour/style.

10

When will I have my finished piece?

The total turnaround time for this process is about 6-8 months.

11

Do you ship?

We currently offer shipping within Canada only. Shipping to the USA has been suspended due to new tariff regulations.
